Mission

Potato Drop for food pantries.

A Heart for Mission

Members and friends of Calvary Church participate in many different kinds of mission work throughout the year.

CARD-MAKING MINISTRY
Once a month members and friends gather at Calvary to make greeting cards to sell.  Proceeds from this time of fun and fellowship are sent to Kids Above All (formerly known as ChildServ), a ministry serving children and youth and their families. These beautiful cards can be purchased from the rack in the Narthex for $2.00 each.

FOOD PANTRY
Members contribute on an ongoing basis to the “food barrels” with canned goods and other non-perishable items which are donated to local food pantries.

SEWING MINISTRY
Experienced sewers as well as others who want to help are welcome to join us every Monday morning from 9am-12n.  Check the church calendar for holiday schedules.  We sew kimonos, layettes, washable diapers, dresses and shorts for little girls, shorts for boys, tote bags and sets of winter hats and scarves.  Over 40 diapers, 20 totes, probably 50 girl outfits, 6 layettes, 10 kimonos, and about 12 scarves and hats were distributed in early December 2023.  Items go to the Humanitarian Projects in Carol Stream and The Midwest Distribution Center in Chatham, IL.

SCHOOL SUPPLIES, HEALTH KITS, LAYETTE KITS
On an ongoing basis, Calvary collects items which are taken to the Midwest Distribution Center and delivered to areas in need throughout the state, country, and world.

POTATO DROP
Calvary coordinates receiving potatoes which are distributed to food pantries and feeding programs in the Northern Illinois area.  Calvary partners with the Society of St. Andrew in making this event happen. www.endhunger.org
